International Garden Workshop in Budapest

Description

Our International Garden Workshop in Budapest was a groundbreaking event for Scattered, marking our first-ever international collaboration. Partnering with the Budapest Poetry Collective, we hosted this unique workshop in a tranquil garden setting, offering a serene and inspiring backdrop for meditation and creative writing. This event symbolized Scattered's expansion beyond Canada and highlighted the universal appeal of mindfulness and artistic expression.

The workshop was designed to embrace the natural beauty of the garden, starting with a grounding meditation session amidst the greenery. The participants, a diverse group representing various cultural backgrounds, were guided to tune into their senses, feeling the breeze, listening to the rustling leaves, and becoming fully present in the moment. This sensory immersion helped set the stage for the automatic writing exercise, where participants allowed their thoughts and feelings to flow freely onto the page.

The cross-cultural aspect of this workshop was particularly special. Poetry and written expressions emerged in multiple languages, reflecting the rich diversity of the participants. The setting and the exercise created a powerful, shared experience that transcended linguistic barriers, bringing people together through the universal language of art. The event was filled with moments of deep introspection and cross-cultural exchange, as participants shared their pieces and learned from one another’s perspectives.

The Budapest Poetry Collective expressed great enthusiasm about the collaboration, and both organizations discussed the potential for future joint events. This workshop demonstrated that Scattered’s methods are adaptable and impactful across different cultures and settings, reinforcing the idea that mindfulness and creative expression are universally transformative practices.
