Scattered Automatic Expression Association operates in Tiohtiá:ke, also known as Montreal, which is situated on the traditional territory of the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation. This land has long served as a gathering place for many First Nations, including the Kanien’kehá:ka of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Huron/Wendat, Abenaki, and Anishinaabeg. We acknowledge and respect the Kanien’kehá:ka as the traditional custodians of the lands and waters on which we engage in our work.
At Scattered, we are committed to supporting the Kanien’kehá:ka and Haudenosaunee peoples, as well as other First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and Indigenous communities. Our mission to promote mindfulness, introspection, and self-expression through creative practices aligns with the values of respect, reciprocity, and relationship-building. We strive to create an inclusive environment that acknowledges and integrates Indigenous perspectives and knowledge, and we aim to work collaboratively with Indigenous communities in ways that reflect their priorities and aspirations.
We are dedicated to building meaningful partnerships with Indigenous communities and supporting Indigenous-led initiatives that focus on healing, education, and cultural preservation. Scattered welcomes feedback and dialogue regarding our efforts toward decolonization, inclusivity, and the incorporation of Indigenous practices into our work.
We welcome feedback and suggestions regarding our land acknowledgement statement and our ongoing efforts to support Indigenous communities:
