Hosted by Scattered in partnership with the CIUSSS and local programs supporting individuals with cognitive disabilities, this festive Holiday Art Market offers unique, handcrafted holiday items that make perfect gifts with a meaningful impact.

About Scattered

Scattered is an organization dedicated to empowering individuals, especially youth, to harness their inner strength and take charge of their mental wellness. By combining automatic writing techniques used in poetry with guided mindfulness meditation, we provide opportunities for self-discovery and creative expression, fostering a deeper connection to oneself.

Our workshops, rooted in inclusivity and creativity, are designed to resonate with all participants, particularly neurodivergent individuals, by providing a safe space to channel chaotic thoughts into meaningful and empowering artistic practices. Beyond workshops, we strive to build a supportive community that values mindfulness, self-expression, and mental well-being.

In line with our values, we host craft markets that bring people together to celebrate creativity and connection. These events also serve as fundraising opportunities to create thoughtful gift packages for neurodivergent children, spreading joy and inclusivity while reinforcing our commitment to empowering individuals and fostering mental wellness.

About the Process:
The Headspace Method

The Headspace Method is an innovative approach developed by the founders of Scattered, combining automatic writing and mindfulness meditation.

Inspired by personal experiences with ADHD and neurodivergent conditions, the method aims to channel overwhelming thoughts into creative and therapeutic expression.

​

This method encourages individuals to embrace and explore their chaotic thoughts, transforming them into introspective art and fostering mindfulness.

Our Approach

  1. Meditative Sessions: Guided mindfulness meditation sessions designed to induce a deeply reflective and calm state of mind, preparing participants for the writing process.

  2. Automatic Writing: Encouraging spontaneous, continuous, and unfiltered writing exercises that help participants tap into their deeper thoughts and emotions without self-censorship.

  3. Reflection: Participants take time to reflect on their writings, gaining personal insights, and then share these reflections with the group to foster mutual understanding.

  4. Community Building: Creating a supportive and inclusive environment where participants can connect, share experiences, and grow together through interactive activities and discussions.
